MLM And Network Marketing Are All About Relationships

network of peopleYou may or may not have heard this before, but I firmly believe it to be true.

Most people in this wonderful industry of ours, myself included, feel we have the best product out there. It is crucial to your network marketing success though, to understand that your product is not really your product… Huh? Say what Todd?

That’s right. Your product is not your actual product, your product is PEOPLE!

You MUST understand this if you have any real attainable expectations of having success in this industry. You need to be able to relate to, and understand people and what makes them tick.

No one appreciates a sales pitch unless they distinctly asked for it, especially in the year 2008. We see a trillion ads a day, they’re everywhere.

We have been so desensitized to any sales pitch, and most are blatantly obvious. What used to work in network marketing has been long gone. You’ve seen it yourself, try talking to a prospect about your opportunity the way you used to.

I’ll bet you can hear the wind coming off their hand as they reach to cover their wallet with lightning speed at the mere mentioning of residual income or time freedom!

Forget it! You’ll get nowhere fast if you stay stuck in the old ways that used to work and that you may even still be being taught by your upline.

You need to understand that people hate to be sold, but they LOVE to buy. But buy on THEIR terms, when THEY are ready. So you must adapt a marketing strategy that conforms to the new psychology of consumers, i.e., network marketing prospects. You MUST put yourself in a position so they will want to know more about what you do, be it product or opportunity.

By providing information that is valuable to your prospects, and giving before ever expecting anything in return, you are GRADUALLY building a relationship in the right way. It can be some advice, a report, an audio, a video, but give it away.

Then over some time, you will build trust with your prospects and if you can posture yourself as an authority, your prospects will want to, or better yet NEED to do business with you. One of the best ways to build relationships is through an effective follow up system. Those that can be automated, while still staying personal are ideal.

Trust me on this one, if you approach your network marketing business where you cultivate and nurture relationships with your prospects, customers, and team members, only the sky will be the limit as to what you will achieve in your business.

Business relationships are 100% about PERSONAL relationships. Remember, PEOPLE are your product…

    Hi Todd,

This is a really great article. I know and love this concept already, but I still appreciate it every time I read a well written article on the subject.
